It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a giant happy face cloud! Expect to spot some puzzled, but delighted, faces across the country when contemporary British artist Stuart Semple brings his world-renowned Happy Clouds to Ireland for the first time. Having enthralled audiences in London, Milan, Holland and Australia, Semple will unleash these smiley-faced helium clouds in seven select locations across Dublin and Cavan – a county particularly affected by growing suicide rates. The Bournemouth artist is renowned for his fresh take on the pop-art style and has collaborated with artists such as Lady GaGa and The Prodigy.
The goal? To make “a positive contribution to desperate times,” as he says himself, as well as “to cheer people up a little bit”.
